Our research and publications work sits at the intersection of human rights, Community Law, migrant communities development, and community-centred institutional change. Through our writing, frameworks, and published work, we seek not only to respond to current challenges, but also to shape the ideas, models, and institutions needed for more just and sustainable futures.

As we continue our institutional development, this work forms part of a wider ambition: to grow into a recognised centre and a leading institution in the fields of Migrant Communities Development and Community Law.

Why Research Matters to Us

At CAD-HR, we do not see research as separate from practice. We believe research grows out of lived community realities, rights-based work, institutional experimentation, and long-term engagement with questions of justice, development, participation, and structural inequality. This approach allows us to develop work that is both practical and conceptual: research that informs action, and action that generates new knowledge.

Areas of Focus

Our current and emerging research interests include:

• ●Community Law as a distinct profession, service, and discipline rooted in people-centred justice.
• ●Migrant Communities Development, including community-rooted models of advancement, resilience, economic participation, and institution-building.
• ●Human rights and access to justice, particularly where legal exclusion, language barriers, inequality, and structural disadvantage shape lived experience.
• ●Law and development, including the relationship between legal empowerment, community advancement, and institutional change.
• ●Community-centred institution-building, including networks, hubs, charters, and long-term frameworks for sustainable public value.

CAD-HR is working towards recognition not only as a community-rooted organisation, but also as a centre of thought, practice, and institutional leadership in Migrant Communities Development and Community Law. This means producing work that is rigorous, grounded, and capable of informing practitioners, researchers, funders, institutions, and communities alike.
